Today, as part of Men’s Mental Health Week, we’re sharing the story of Nigel McMahon, who has been coming to Charis for well over a year. In his own words he speaks openly about his experiences and explains how the support he received has helped him through some of life’s toughest moments.
“ Following a diagnosis of bowel cancer, major surgery and chemotherapy, I have found everyone at Charis from reception to the people who do the treatments all lovely and helpful people, always time for a wee chat and help.
As a man it’s sometimes hard to have people to talk to or get help or advice from but everyone and everything at Charis is there to help and they are all very friendly people.
As well as the staff and treatments are the wee cuppa and chat with other people going through some sort of cancer issues is as good as it gets, don’t be afraid to contact Charis and get yourselves along for wee treatments , chat or even counselling as all available and free.”
Please remember support is available. If you or someone you know is struggling, please get in touch with us at chariscancercare.org or call 028 8676 9217. We are here to help.
